My turn! [Jun. 12th, 2008|11:28 pm]
Name That Tune: Broadway Style!

alifeofregret
When I was nine I learned survival
Taught myself not to care
I was my single good companion
Taking my comfort there

I'm hoping someone will get this one as speedily as I got the last one and we can get this game really rolling! :D

Standing here underneath your window
Searching for some kind of sign
Every move, every tiny gesture
Only proves you're not mine

Good luck!

It's been a while again (with no answer on the last post - futureeponine can you tell us what it was?) So here's another hopefully easy one...

Traveling through the country is so thrilling
Standing out in front on opening nights
Smiling as you watch the benches filling
And see your billing up there in lights

p.s. I'm going out of town tomorrow, so if you're sure you have the right answer, don't wait for my confirmation before you post!

Ah my turn!

There's a tiny house.
There's a tiny guy.
I must be a million miles high!
Tiny, winding roads,
Lined with wind up cars,
Glinting in the sun like distant stars...

It's been quite a while, so I'm trying for easy here...

And all shall fade
the flowers of spring
the world and all the sorrows
at the heart of everything

but still it stays
the butterfly sings
and opens purple summer
with a flutter of its wings

the earth will wave with corn
the grey-fly choir will mourn
and mares will neigh
with stallions that they mate
foals they've borne

Maybe I'm foolish
And deserve the pain that all this brings
And maybe she's using me
And I'm imagining all these things
Or maybe it's a puppet show
And I'm failing to see all the strings

I have played, in my time, every possible part
And I used to know seventy speeches by heart
I'd extemporize backchat
I knew how to gag
And I knew how to let the cat out of the bag
I knew how to act with my back and my tail
With an hour of rehearsal
I never could fail
I'd a voice that would soften the hardest of hearts
Whether I took the lead or in character parts

We get packages from home
We get movies, we get shows
We get speeches from our skipper
And advice from Tokyo Rose
We get letters doused with perfume
We get dizzy from the smell
What don't we get?
You know damn well!

My pace is frantic, my temper's cross
With words romantic I'm at a loss
I'd be the first one to agree that I'm preoccupied with me
And it's inbred, kid
So keep your head, kid

Faith are the toes attached to your feet,
So I'll be your feet, completely.
Always there to strive in your socks,
Alive in your socks,
No longer dejected
Two feet resurrected...
